Tourist attractions of the Łódź Voivodeship

Irrespective of whether you love active forms of leisure or prefer staying in one place, admiring landscapes and nature, here you will live unmemorable moments. The Łódź Voivodeship offers opportunities of engaging in all kinds of activities - from sailing to skiing. One can take a ride in a boat (including a rented one) on one of the huge water reservoirs located in the region, choose canoeing on rivers with diversified courses or rest on a beach. Skiers and snowboarders can use the skiing center in Kamieńsk.

A huge asset of the voivodeship is its horse route, the longest in Europe. The route encompasses the whole region, giving visitors a chance of seeing everything that the Łódź Voivodeship has to offer. You will find here routes specially prepared for cyclists, both those engaging in competitive cycling and those preferring recreation in the company of family and friends. Hikers, runners and enthusiasts of Nordic walking will also appreciate the routes offered by the region.

Apart from attractions for enthusiasts of sport disciplines, the voivodeship offers numerous monuments. Dating back to different epochs and being a reflection of different architectural styles, these places will give you an opportunity of seeing, feeling and learning the fascinating history of the region. Participate in a tour which will take you to Romanesque churches, soaring Gothic temples and Renaissance palaces as well as Classicist mansions or Art Nouveau and modernist tenements.

The monuments of cultural importance located at the Łódź Horse Trail which are particularly worth visiting include:

monuments of architecture:

  • the Romanesque Collegiate church of St. Mary and St. Alexius in Tum,
  • St. Giles Church in Inowłódz,
  • the Romanesque St. Ursula church in Strońsk,
  • Cistercian monastery in Sulejów-Podklasztorze,

mansion and palace or palace and park complexes of historical importance:

  • palace and park complex in Nieborów,
  • park of Arkadia,
  • palace and stud in Walewice,

historical towns:

  • Wieluń with preserved fortifications from the 14th century,
  • Łęczyca with a royal castle built on the initiative of Casimir III the Great,
  • Tomaszów Mazowiecki with the Pilica River Heritage Park and the Blue Springs Nature Reserve.

An invaluable asset of the voivodeship is also its green areas. Landscape parks and huge woods make it possible to watch nature and use its abundant products, e.g. mushrooms or bilberries. You will find here places with the air so clear that it will have a soothing effect not only on your soul, but also on the body. Whether you are doing sport, visiting monuments or simply relaxing outdoors, you can admire the beauty of the surrounding nature, and especially the river basin of the Warta river as well as its tributaries.
